Being a classic skeptic I would never have believed 15 years ago that many health conditions could be helped, and in many cases overcome, by improving spine and nervous system function, diet, exercise, and right thinking. However, witnessing miraculous changes in the lives of many of my clients eventually convinced me this was true!
“I was 12 years old when I first realized that I had a spinal problem.”
I was suffering with low back pain and it was preventing me from being able to compete in the sports I loved. I grew afraid that I would never be able to play competitive sport again because all the medical specialists could not figure out what was wrong with me. My mother, then desperate, eventually took me to a chiropractor for a different opinion. Many thought she was crazy and some even irresponsible. However, with a series of adjustments and rehabilitative exercises, I began to heal and as cliche as it may sound, chiropractic radically changed my life. Since becoming a chiropractor, I have seen many who have suffered far worse than I ever did, but I do still remember what it was like to be prevented from doing what I loved, and that is what motivates me every day to reach out to others and help them attain their health goals.
*Doctor of Chiropractic is a courtesy title and that does not mean the individual holds a general medical qualification.
Chiropractic Education
I graduated from Durban University of Technology in South Africa as a doctor of chiropractic (DC) with distinctions in all but one of my final year subjects. I then left for Ireland to manage a busy practice in Galway City. Within two and half years it became one of the fastest growing clinics in Ireland. However, I was growing frustrated with the somewhat short-term relief I was providing for my clients and so I wanted to progress to a practice model that could deliver more long-term improvements. Therefore, soon afterwards, I set up my own clinic and spent the next three years completing a post graduate program in Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) to learn how to achieve long term spine and posture correction. I later achieved my advanced certification in CBP, which at the time of writing this bio, made me one of only two Advanced certified CBP practitioners in all of Europe.
I also began to study and research the wellness paradigm and completed all the certified wellness programme seminars led by Dr James Chestnut (B.Ed., M.Sc., D.C., C.C.W.P.) who has been inspirational in helping me implement wellness into my own life and my family’s, as well as being able to teach it to our practice members. I have benefited and learnt an immeasurable amount from decades of attending seminars, conferences and reading research. This has led to my philosophy that the day I stop learning (or think that I know everything that there is to know), is the day I will stop practicing.
Away From Align 4 Life
I am married to my wife Kirsty, who is the sister of my best friend whom I have known from the age of six…. and yes, I have heard all the jokes! We moved to the Isle of Man in 2009 to be nearer to family because we know how important it is to have family support close at hand when raising kids. My hobbies include all sports especially diving, spearfishing, rugby, hiking, camping and when I get the chance, an African safari.
Obviously it is important for me to walk the talk
I myself get adjusted on a weekly basis, and I have not needed to take medication of any sort in almost 10 years. But enough about me. Thank you for visiting our site. I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we can assist you and your family with today’s safe and holistic approach to health care. Give Align 4 Life a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.

My Journey
I will start by telling you that I have always wanted to dedicate my life to helping others find/ discover hope; to promote healthy living and provide a service that was concerned with maintaining well-being. As a boy I suffered from Tension-type headaches, something that was severe enough to affect daily living and enough to make me seek out professional help. At the time I was still unsure of what career I wanted to pursue. A friend at school suggested that I visit a Chiropractor.
At first I was a little unsettled as this was a term and profession that was relatively unknown to me. I decided to give it a try all the same. After receiving a series of treatments my life changed. After seeing a change in myself, not just physically but emotionally, I was assured that chiropractic was a path I was sure to follow. I wanted to help others through chiropractic, the same way I was helped. I had witnessed the power of natural healing and at that moment I realized something that I still hold to this day. It’s something that the founders of chiropractic understood all those years ago when the profession was being developed. I learnt that while other medical professionals are concerned with changing the environment to suit the weakened body, Chiropractic is concerned with strengthening the body to suit the environment. I was reminded of the given ability of our bodies to heal given the opportunity to do so.
Chiropractic Education
I graduated from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). I received a distinction for my dissertation on Tension-Type Headaches. After university I started my own practice which operated out of Johannesburg for three and a half years.
My Philosophy
As we all know our central nervous system runs through the spine. Any disruption in information running from brain to body may cause a disruption in bodily function. Today I have the distinct privilege of making sure that the nervous system is functioning at the highest level possible. I view myself as the mediator between brain and body.
Life outside of Align 4 Life
I am engaged to my best friend Sanchia Ferreira who just so happens to be the Physiotherapist and Pilates instructor at Align 4 Life. We decided at the end of 2018 that we wanted a fresh start in a new country and decided on the Isle of Man.

My Journey
My initial interest in and passion for chiropractic began over a decade ago after witnessing the impact and transformative effects chiropractic treatment had on my brother’s life, years after being involved in a serious motorbike accident. At this point, I decided to visit a Chiropractor myself, to experience the chiropractic miracles I had witnessed and I received care that helped me in so many ways.
Chiropractic Education
Drawing from my background as a sports therapist, I made the decision to pursue my passion and began full-time studies at the esteemed Durban University of Technology in South Africa. I graduated from the Durban University of Technology (DUT) in South Africa with distinctions in all but one of my final year subjects – fulfilling my dream of becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC).
My Vision
After graduating, a new chapter beckoned for me and my husband, Richard, as we contemplated a life beyond South Africa.
